Joel Litvin is a Senior Deal Partner at Andalusian Sports Advisors. He collaborates with ASA deal teams on transaction advisory assignments, drawing on decades of operating and deal experience in sports.
As NBA President, League Operations (2006–2015), Mr. Litvin oversaw basketball operations, legal affairs, player development, revenue sharing, and all franchise matters—including sales, financings, relocations, ownership policies, and debt limits. His NBA career, which began in 1988, also included service as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He was the chief architect of the NBA’s modern revenue‑sharing model, helped negotiate multiple collective‑bargaining agreements, expanded instant‑replay rules, and built the league’s data‑driven referee‑evaluation system.
Beyond the NBA, Mr. Litvin has advised a range of sports businesses, including the ATP, XFL, Crown League, G2 Strategic, FutureSports, and Joseph Tsai’s acquisition of the Brooklyn Nets, and he lectures in Columbia University’s Sports Management program.
He has served on numerous boards, among them Sphere Entertainment Co. (MSG Sphere), MSG Entertainment, MSG Networks, USA Climbing, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Mr. Litvin holds a B.S. in Economics, magna cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review.
